NACS Joins National AHA 'Go Red For Women' Community Heart Challenge
CHATTANOOGA, TN -- In an effort to encourage employees and Americans as a whole, to live healthier lives and have healthier hearts, North American Credit Services (NACS) and Medical Services of Chattanooga celebrated National 'Go Red' on Friday, February 3, at its Chattanooga, TN based corporate head-quarters. The American Heart Association's (AHA) 'Go Red For Women' celebrates the energy, passion and power of women who band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke.
NACS 200 plus employees were each provided little red dress pins which is a symbol in the shared fight against heart disease. "We've encouraged all of our employees to wear the red dress pins proudly throughout February to show their support in this important national movement of women's heart disease," shared Beverly J. Bunton, Senior Vice-President and Corporate Officer with NACS and Medical Services of Chattanooga.
Additional company 'Go Red' activities included: Wear Red Fridays, Employee Wellness Lunch 'n Learn featuring Allan Lewis, a local Healthy Heart Expert from Memorial Healthcare System and member of the local AHA Board. Employee's also collected red dress, professional business empowerment clothing items to be donated in support of the area's Shepherd's Arms Rescue Mission for homeless women and children.
"Employee wellness partnerships such as the AHA's Go Red initiative, creates an opportunity in workplaces such as ours, to engage employees in increased health prevention and awareness, while at work and after-hours in improving one's personal health," states Bunton.
According to a recent national study released from the American Heart Association, Heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. "This means women; mothers, sisters, and friends are dying at the rate of one per minute," states Lewis. "Because, they simply don't know that heart disease kills!"
